Paddler G Sathiyan sets a new record with the WTT Feeder championship

<p>The first-ever Indian to win a men’s singles trophy in a WTT Feeder Series competition in Beirut, Lebanon, is star paddler G Sathiyan.</p>

<p>On the last day, Thursday night, he beat fellow countryman Manav Thakkar 6-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-4.</p>
<p>The eleventh seed, Sathiyan, defeated first seed Chuang Chih-Yuan 11-8 11-13 11-8 11-9 and fifth seed Harmeet Desai 15-13 6-11 11-8 13-11 on a satisfying route to the Lebanese capital final.</p>
<p>Sathiyan will, however, remember the championship game the most since he recovered an early deficit to defeat ninth-seeded Thakkar in four games.</p>
<p>With this outcome, Sathiyan wins his first international ranking singles championship in a tournament since the ITTF Czech International Open 2021 and achieves his first men’s singles triumph at a WTT event.</p>
<p>The first Cuban pair to win a WTT championship, Andy Pereira and Jorge Campos, defeated Manav Thakkar and Manush Utpalbhai Shah of India 11-5 7-11 11-13 12-14, forcing the Indian pair to settle for second place.</p>
<p>Diya Chitale and Manush, two more Indians, won the mixed doubles championship by defeating Thakkar and Archana Kamath 11-6 10-12 11-6 11-6.</p>
<p>In the meantime, women’s singles champion Xia Lian Ni won her second WTT Feeder championship after putting up a strong showing to overcome Suh Hyo Won’s defensive wall and win 11-9, 11-5, 11-5.</p>
