There were hundreds of his followers waiting outside the arrival lounge, and as soon as he emerged being led away by security guards, they began yelling “Thalaivar”… Thalaivar, to which he immediately replied with a grin and his hands folded.

It was only after the cries filled the air that those waiting at the airport realized it was Rajinikanth, who, unlike his contemporaries here, usually keeps a low profile in public. There was then a frenzy to get a look of the actor.

He spoke with people who had come to see him before getting into the automobile that was sent to pick him up.

An airport employee who saw her favorite star up close was ecstatic.

“Yes, I’m incredibly delighted and excited… I was able to view him up close,” the airport workers said.

The superstar of Tamil cinema will spend the next ten days in the state capital filming his next movie, tentatively titled Thalaivar 170.

He is filming for a movie in the state capital for the first time in his professional career.

Manju Warrier and Fahad Fazil, both from Kerala, are featured in the movie.
