According to Manek Behramkamdin, vice president and general manager of Godrej Aerospace, Air India and Indigo have purchased almost 1,000 brand-new aeroplanes jointly.

He said, “With such a high volume of orders, he will eventually need to service 2,000 to 2,500 engines.” It is important to note that India is encouraging home production of aerospace and defence parts as well as domestic acquisition of such parts. Airbus and Boeing are two businesses that have made a commitment to “Make in India.”

“Airbus and Boeing will need to widen their supply networks since so many aircraft are heading to India. Second-tier suppliers for Airbus and Boeing are now negotiating with India, according to Behramkamdin. According to him, there are plenty of prospects in contracts for the supply of aircraft structures. He noted that there would also be a huge demand for titanium and a need for the maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of aviation components.

According to the firm, Godrej Aerospace already sells several important parts to General Electric and Rolls-Royce, two manufacturers of engines. For the current fiscal year, the firm anticipates its commercial aviation division to generate Rs 100 billion in revenue. Behramkamdin predicted that 35% of Godrej’s overall revenue would come from this. He continued by predicting a 50% rise in sales for the next year.

In an effort to join the supply chain for a flagship product that will power India’s next-generation fighter aircraft, Godrej Aerospace will also produce modules for the GE 414 engine, according to Reuters.

A contract inked during Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to the US states that GE and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) would produce the engine jointly.

According to a different statement from Godrej Aerospace, the business would spend Rs 250 crore to construct a new facility in Khalapur, Maharashtra, with cutting-edge production, assembly, and integration capabilities. rice paddock.
